I was told that it is defective but I have no proper transport mechanism to really test it. It is too high and is hitting the spindle- does restrict spinning movement slightly.
New laser modules are about $6 but my price is fair as it was my cost incurred to acquire this rare older laser module as returned by a law student from Newcastle(U Of) NSW.
Buyer ID: 100%

Some information:

1 Defective laser was a genuine "SONY" as marked and
manufactured with plastic molding process.

2 Laser power adjustment seal broken.

3 Springs for transport platform are a mixed with two of
gold/copper and two of silver type in the returned item -Highly strange mixed for a Marantz factory

4 Laser head was almost hitting the spindle- not much
clearance and of an incompatible fixing.

Correction for point 4:

4 Laser head was almost hitting the spindle- not much clearance and of a incompatible fixing.

Laser head actually restrict spindle movement as it closes in. There is not enough clearance to allow spindle to move freely. Laser head is of an incompatible design to the spindle height. Laser looks old, much older to the other parts;dull and dirty oxidised (gold/copper coloured) metal parts of laser as compared to clean and shinny silver parts of spindle and moving assembly.

The more current laser modules do not have seals on the power adjustment pot. The seals indicate an older version.

I have only one unique rare laser and if sold, there won't be any more.

Only the laser module is being sold( will be removed from transport mechanism) and as not a working part.
