The Thumper is made from heavy gauge stainless steel, and at 2L. Wide mouth for ease of cleaning.  It is the perfect size for most 5-10 gallon distillations.  The tall, slim design is optimal for the condensing of incoming vapor, which is necessary for thumper action. The thumper can be used in place of a distillation column and does not attach to a distillation column or with a distillation column. The thumper goes between the distilling kettle and the condenser and acts as a distillation column itself.

Distilling with a thumper will give you roughly the same finished product as running a pot distillation twice in order to increase proof and purity. Although it does not double the purity of the distillate, the thumper increases the purity all in one pass instead of having to do 2 separate distillations. You also can use your thumper as part of a moonshine still by adding copper mesh to the thumper.

What sets LBS' thumper apart from others is our optimal design. Some thumpers are very wide at the base, like 3-gallon milk cans, or cooking pots, which can cause issues because the vapor won't spend enough time in the liquid to actually get cooled. Our thumpers are designed so that the vapor will spend more time in the liquid in order to get properly cooled.

Compression fitting on top makes it simple to attach your 1/2" copper. Just insert and tighten for an air tight seal. Or just use 1/2" silicone tubing to attach. See pictures and our other listings for examples

All you need to do is attach the in flow, long tube to your still and attach the out flow, short tube to your condenser and you have successfully raised the percent abv by around 50%. This is why it is also referred to as a "doubler."

Everything comes apart for cleaning. 

You can also use it to flavor your neutral spirits. It works very well as a flavor enhancer when filled with juice, or cinnamon, or a half a lemon, or sliced peaches, etc.
