Vintage Rare Scarce Japanese Tsuba Copper with Lighting Bolts, Dragon and Silver Emperor Figure GC NR

This antique Katana Copper Tsuba is in great condition. No breaks, no cracks, no missing figures; all intact (See Pics)

This is a guard that protected the hand and affected the balance of the weapon and was also used as prevention from the hand sliding onto the blade during thrusts.

 

Seems to be some Japanese Writing between the Nakago-ana and the Hozuka Hitsu-ana (both are openings for the blade)

Could be Maker’s or Owner’s mark of the Original completed sword (See Pic)

 

Other Markings on both sides along with: what appears to be an Emperor (Looks Silver) holding a staff of flowers with a Dragon curled around and showing on both sides with Lighting Bolts. (See Pics)

 

Very beautiful, well crafted, and taken care of

 

Measurements: approx. Across Diameter 2 7/8 in

Top Diameter approx. 3 1/8 in

 

This would be an excellent addition to any Authentic Japanese Sword Collection, or collectable Tsuba enthusiast
