CARL ZEISS JENA SEPTAREM SUPER " S "   7 X 40 W BINOCULARS    " VERY RARE   "

This auction is for a good pair of Carl Zeiss Super   S . 7 x 40 binoculars produced in East Germany in 1969 and the serial number is 3623696. They have the original case which needed a replaced hinge and is now in a sound condition. The case strap and lanyard are good.

This model was the civilian version of the DF 7 x 40 or "Checkpoint Charlie "as it is often called and was used by the East German NVA or Nationale Volks Armee , by the patrol  guards for continuous surveillance duties.

This Super S has been well used and the cosmetic condition does show marks over the past number of years with the lacquered housings losing some of the brightness.  The body work has had no damage and no dints what so ever.

The centre focus wheel had the rubber covering replaced with a ribbed type for easy and accurate use.                

Optically they are in very good condition and the image produced is excellent.  They give a superb bright and sharp image and with the eyecups extending from about 10mm to 20mm above the eye lens, are ideal for the spectacle user as the full field of view is available.

Reverse viewing reveals a spotless interior and in fact both objectives show the condition as being crystal clear with no fungus or any other debris and I will confirm that the collimation is also perfect

All focusing function are smooth and positive and these are a fine pair of binoculars and will I am sure make a valuable additionor any user , as they are a delight to use and the performance of them  is  superb.
