The Cyrus Straight Line is a conservatively rated 50W per channel entry level Cyrus integrated amplifier with remarkable sonic performance. Continuing the philosophy of the legendary Cyrus I & II, the Cyrus Straight Line has been engineered to minimise the signal path, providing totally uncompromised sonic performance.
The Cyrus Straight Line features high grade SMD components throughout which assist in topology optimisation resulting in shorter signal paths. This is highly desirable in a quality audio amplifier in helping reduce a multitude of complex distortions and adverse interaction with the environment.
A major design mandate of the amplifier was the total symmetry of the design. This has been substantially achieved throughout the pre and power amplifier sections. The true symmetry is particularly important in the power amplifier stage, that handles high signal currents, to provide stable image and accurate localisation cues.
A sophisticated 180VA toroidal power transformer forms the essential part of the Cyrus Straight Line advanced linear Power supply system. The “zero-mechanical-noise” core design of this transformer ensures high performance within an unusually wide AC mains voltage. The patented slit-foil reservoir capacitors dispel circulating eddy currents in the foil reducing the ESR as well as substantially increasing the effective power supply bandwidth as seen by the amplifiers.
The input signals are relay switched immediately as they enter the Cyrus Straight Line, ensuring maximum signal fidelity and effectively no X-talk between inputs. The propriety current-feedback amplifier design constitutes the basis of the Cyrus Straight Line. Our application of current feedback principles, rather than conventional voltage feedback methods, enables ultra-fast slewing of 700V/mS and negligibly low distortion at higher frequencies. The result is an exceptional sweetness and clarity in the mid-band with an attractive silky top end. Finally, an authoritative bass response with convincing scale and weight underpins the overall rendition of program material.
