up for consideration is an Antique Wooden Coffin Style Violin Case...this is a fantastic design and build...dating this piece is difficult. I would say between the 1020's-1950's could be older...very heavy (8 lbs.)...top handle design...three panels make the top arch...great true "coffin" design...beautiful shape for its age...some scuffs...wonderful patina...lock is loose...no key..see photos for details...probably a combination of poplar and pine...center swing latch (interesting detail)...has a keyhole and lock (loose)...but no key so I don't know if lock works...not sure if hinges are original...if they are I believe the screws were replaced...measures 31 3/4" x 10 1/4" x 5 3/8"...a truly unique and amazing construction...will do any vintage fiddle or violin proud to call it home....
