design — the Custom 22 — and replaces the 5-way blade switch with a
rotary knob switch. All the tone you'd expect is right there, courtesy
of the Custom 22 Special's stunning carved figured Maple top and
mahogany back, which is brought to life with the combination of Swamp
Ash treble and bass pickups and a Lindy Fralin center pickup. This PRS
even earns elite "10-Top" status, thanks to the gorgeous figuring on the
Custom 22 Special's maple top.

The Custom 22 woods
The Custom 22 Special features a solid mahogany back and a carved
figured maple top, a combination that results in both tremendous tone
and a look that's guaranteed to turn heads. Every single piece of wood
that goes into a PRS Guitar is painstakingly chosen and carefully
handled. An experienced PRS craftsman checks each piece for flaws,
strength and stability.
"10-Top" Status
A very small percentage of the maple trees cut in North America are
actually figured. To make "10-Top" status, as this PRS Custom 22 Special
has, a PRS top must have clearly defined figure across its entire top. A
guitar designated as a 10-Top will have a small "10" written on the
back of the headstock in the upper right corner. Some of PRS's earlier
guitars have the "10" stamped into the finish in the same position.
Gorgeous finish
Utilizing the most advanced finishing technology, PRS has developed fat,
