GTS GENERAL CARE GUIDE
Thank you for your trust and purchase.
As a former police officer, I know how important it is to provide our law enforcement personnel and members of the general public with ballistic protection when it’s needed.
Please remember that no product is “bulletproof.” Please be familiar with National Institute of Justice protection levels that are associated with the product that you purchased. Here is a link to some of this information: http://www.nij.gov/topics/technology/body-armor/pages/welcome.aspx
NOTE: Soft armor, panels and any IIIA products are NOT intended to stop rifle fire.
Please be aware of the proper use and function of your product.
For bullet resistant vests:
It is imperative that the soft panels be properly installed before wearing. In most cases, the vests are shipped with the panels already installed. Please check for proper installation. Make sure that the ballistic panels in your vest are installed with the “wear face” toward the body and/or “strike face” away from the body and in the direction of the threat.
When wearing: Adjust your product so that it is centered over vital areas and side overlap protection is utilized (if applicable). Remember that wearing the carrier without any ballistic panels being properly inserted provides NO ballistic protection.
Proper storage and inspection of your vest will assist in maintaining the usability of your armor. Store your vest lying flat in a clean, moisture-free area and out of direct sunlight.
To clean your carrier, remove all ballistic panels, trauma inserts and plates. We recommend hand washing the carrier, but it can be machine washed on the gentle cycle using cold water with a mild detergent. DO NOT use bleach or fabric softener to clean your carriers. DO NOT dry clean your carrier. Likewise, DO NOT use deodorizing sprays. Allow to air dry or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting.
Each component should be separated before cleaning. The ballistic panels can be removed from the vest by releasing the Velcro straps at the bottom edges of both the front and the rear vest pieces.
Ballistic and ceramic (hard) panels):
If required, ICW plates must be used with NIJ level IIIA vests to achieve full protection.
Use a damp cloth or sponge and gently wipe the ballistic panels to remove dirt or stains. If necessary, you may choose to use a mild detergent. DO NOT bleach, iron, tape, machine wash or tumble dry your ballistic panels.
Ceramic plates should be stored in such a way that they are not dropped, thrown or stacked more than (2) high. If you suspect that the plates have been damaged or possibly cracked, please contact us for further information before using. We do not recommend using a ceramic plate that has damage or suspected damage.
Ballistic helmets and face masks:
These items can be cleaned by wiping clean with a soft cloth and water. If a trauma pad (on the inside of the helmet or face mask) comes loose, it can be secured with rubber cement or Velcro. Make sure that all helmet straps are adjusted to full length when trying on your product for the first time. The chin strap should be snapped under the chin and then moved into place.
All products:
Some product tag information has been left blank and can be completed by the new owner, if desired. For warranty purposes, our sales records will suffice and we do not rely on tag information.
In accordance with the original sales agreement, GTS is not responsible for ANY personal injury or death resulting from the use of this product. We do guarantee the original craftsmanship of the item for 30 days. We also guarantee the condition of the ballistic panels for a period of five years. We do not offer any refunds for ceramic plates, as they can be damaged without proper care.
If your product was involved in a shooting incident in which a GTS product assisted your safety, please contact us and do not wear the damaged item again.
