This lens appears to have received relatively little actual use and has clearly been exceptionally well cared for, as evidenced by the condition of its mount and by its generally exceptional physical condition. Nikon's 28-105mm AF-D Macro Zoom has begun to develop a reputation as a hidden gem for use on FX-format camera bodies thanks to its compactness, its versatility and its excellent overall sharpness.  It has a very usable macro feature that for many photographers will preclude the need for a dedicated macro lens and is capable of overall image quality that is exceptional at its price level.  Although there are many Nikon lenses that can be considered viable choices for use as standard zooms, each one of them has weaknesses that compromise it seriously in at least one regard.  While many have broader zoom ranges or larger max apertures, the relatively modest design parameters of the 28-105 enable its combination of optical superiority and compact size and make it, for some photographers, among the best choices available at any price.
