A representative specimen of hardystonite from the classic Franklin mine. A moderately rich specimen of pale gray to off-white, greasy lustered hardystonite associated with large areas and sections of massive, black metallic franklinite and vitreous, brown-orange sections of garnet. The hardystonite fluoresces a moderate violet-blue under shortwave (254nm) ultraviolet light. There are swirls and grains of bright green fluorescent willemite throughout. Present also is some minor orange fluorescent clinohedrite.
