This is a vintage (serial number 458473) King model 1159 Double French Horn. This instrument is in good playing condition and plays well. The valves move well with good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are a few dings and pings, light scratching as well as some light pitting throughout the instrument. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. The engraving on the bell reads “KING/ KING MUSICAL/ INSTRUMENTS/ EASTLAKE/ OHIO”. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore, fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case and a mouthpiece in good condition.

How the horn plays:
Full, colorful sound. The tone is smooth and clear. The horn is responsive with a versatile sound, being able to play warm and melodically as well as bright and brassy if desired. The Bb and F side timbres match well. The horn has an excellent dynamic range, capable of a soft, full pianissimo as well as an edgy fortissimo. The low and high registers speak well.
