1948 MG TC Roadster

Chassis No. TC6112  Engine No. XPAG6497

MG was quick to restart production after the war, and the MG TC was launched in October 1945. Based on the pre-war TB, the TC was essentially the same, but with minor modifications. Exports to the U.S. began in 1947, and the TC became something of a cult car. Production finished in 1950 with 2,001 overall examples sent to the United States, where the cars generated new enthusiasm for sports cars and motor racing.

Here is a very honest and drivable TC; the model famed for bringing the sports car movement to America. This Roadster wears a striking and always iconic combination of British Racing Green over handsome woodwork, Red leather trim and black carpeting.

The car received its current full restoration in several years past, which has mellowed nicely into plush seating and driver's quality paint. Crazing and blemishes are apparent upon inspection, but not detract from the presentation and only adds to the usability. Likewise, the vehicle's trim, gaps and brightwork fit well. Pale yellow center laced wheels look great next to green paintwork; the mounted bias-ply tires are older. From the driver's chair, two large instruments on either side of the beautifully sculpted dash give the impression of driving one of the greats. The front displays a correct electric horn and Lucas driving lamp on the badge bar as the rear end compliments with mounted spare, vintage Alambama plate and "antenna" bumpers - a proper presentation for a fine British Roadster. Handcrank and original owner's manual accompany the vehicle.

The TC's undercarriage appears very solid, correct and free of structural corrosion issues. Similarly, the engine bay displays the original powerplant and correct mechanical configuration. Together with the charming presentation and open cockpit, the prowess of this MG is ideally suited for zipping through the winding narrows.
