THIS IS THE FIRST,FIRST GAME PROGRAM WE HAVE EVER COME ACROSS.
HISTORY WAS MADE THIS NIGHT IN BUFFALO,NY AT THE OLD "AUD".
OCT 15,1970 vs MONTREAL CANADIANS.
THIS IS THE ACTUAL PROGRAM FROM THAT NIGHT.
******* PLEASE NOTE,THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE MASS PRODUCED REPLICA PROGRAMS THAT WERE GIVIN OUT IN 1996,BUT THE ACTUAL,ORIGINAL PROGRAM SOLD THE OPENING NIGHT AT THE OLD AUD, 10-15-1970.*******
JUST THINK ABOUT HOW RARE THIS IS.
BACK THEN THE BUILDING ONLY HELD 10,000 PEOPLE ( before the roof was raised ).
OF THOSE 10,000...HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU THINK ACTUALLY BOUGHT A PROGRAM THAT NIGHT ?
OF THOSE FOLKS,HOW MANY DO YOU THINK STILL HAVE THEIR PROGRAM FROM THAT NIGHT ?........VERY FEW I'M SURE.
THE RAREST OF THE RARE AS FAR AS BUFFALO SABRES COLLECTIBLES ARE CONCERNED.
ONLY A SMALL DATE AND SCORE WRITTEN IN RED ON THE UPPER RIGHT,KEEP THIS PROGRAM FROM BEING NEAR MINT / MINT.
THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK !
The 1970-71 season was the first for the Buffalo Sabres, who were led from the start by their highly touted rookie Gilbert Perreault, the 1st pick overall in the previous summer's Amateur draft. They made their home debut on the evening of October 15, 1970 against the Montreal Canadiens before a packed house at the old Memorial Auditorium. Unfortunately, the Canadiens would spoil the party with a 3-0 victory, led by captain Jean Beliveau's two points and Rogie Vachon's shutout goaltending. Better days were ahead - by season's end Perreault had set a new NHL rookie scoring record with 38 goals. This complete program from the first ever NHL game in Buffalo is complete and in fine EX+ condition.
