DESCRIPTION

Wood and Caldwell Staffordshire pearlware figure which features a lion, recumbent on a plinth base. Ochre painted base line. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside. Maker's marks to the underside. Book reference ,'English Earthenware Figures 1740-1840' by Pat Halfpenny, page 166

CONDITION

Good. Some small flakes to lion's ears, muzzle and eyebrows. RESTORATION: Filled chips to base corners and rims. Minor retouched paint losses to lion.
