African-American performer Josephine Baker got her start on the Harlem stage in New York City. She decided to leave the prejudices of her native land behind her, and became the Darling of Paris cabarets and nightclubs soon after arriving in the City of Lights. This image was created by Paul Colin, the poster artist and stage designer for the Theatre des Champs- Elysees. His images include many memorable depictions of Jazz age art, music and dress.

Because of the age of some of our posters, a few small imperfections may be reproduced. These should be visible by looking at the larger images within this listing. Some prints may have marks or creases as a result of this. Paper can often degrade with time, and sometimes an image reproduced from the original that may reflect this. Also please note that on certain movie posters, visible folds or creases might be visible. This is due to the originals being sent in this state to the movie theatres when released for distribution.
