Schott S8612 UV/IR Cut Filter, 82mm, "Hot Mirror", Visual Range Bandpass,  IR Suppression.
1.5mm thick glass version.
More aggressive IR suppression than BG38 or BG40 glass (at the same thickness), equal to BG39 with much better UV transmission.
Used for visual photos on a full spectrum converted camera, and IR suppression for ultraviolet photography.

This filter is quality made from genuine Schott S8612 optically polished filter glass. Precision crafted size, thickness, and edges. Freshly made from new glass.
Custom mounted in a quality standard sized 82mm camera filter frame (with front and rear threads). Cut and mounted in the USA.
(Schott filter glass is the very best premium quality filter glass in the world. If you want a quality filter then get one that is made of Schott filter glass)

If you need something specific, message me to inquire about listing any type of Schott or Hoya filter glass, in any size, any shape, or any thickness (price, availability, time, details).

NOTE:  With filter glass types S8612, BG39, UG5, and UG11 a change in the glass surface is possible overtime.
I have experienced no surface problems with these glasses myself, however, climate, humidity, and other factors vary substantially so you may experience different results.
In humid regions this glass may show signs of surface oxidation sooner, therefore I recommend storing these 4 types of filter glass with desiccant in a sealed container at all times when not in use.
Cladding can diminish UV transmission, so I use these types of glass in photography non-clad and non-coated.
However, some surface oxidation can develop over time, thus S8612, BG39, UG5, and UG11 glass may need to be re-polished eventually, and is not something I currently provide.
Schott BG40 (and BG38) is more durable glass and may be a viable substitute for your application (when thicker than S8612), but having less UV transmission and less IR suppression than S8612.

Glass:  Schott S8612
Filter thread size:  82mm
Glass thickness:  1.5mm (custom thickness, perfect for stacking with various thicknesses of UG11, U-340, UG1, U-360 for UV-only photos, ask for advice on stacking thicknesses)
Color:  light blue green
Type:  visible bandpass filter
Range:  335nm ~ 590nm @50% transmission, or 305nm to 795nm @1E-03 (see graph above)
Used for:  Visual range photos and strong IR suppression

1) For shooting visual photos with full spectrum converted or broadband cameras.
This filter blocks ultraviolet below 320nm, and strongly blocks infrared above 650nm, and transmits the normal visible range of light.
This filter can be used on any full spectrum converted camera, and permits the camera to function like a regular non-converted off-the-shelf stock camera for regular visual photography shots.
This filter works like the internal UV/IR cut filter that was removed from the camera when it was converted.

2) This filter can also be used on a full spectrum converted camera to shoot ultraviolet photos by pairing it (stacking it) with a UV pass filter (such as Shcott UG1, UG11, or Hoya U-360) to suppress the infrared passed by such filters.  S8612 has strong IR suppression and good UV transmission at half the thickness of  BG38, BG39, and BG40 (all of which I have available, check my other listings or message me if you want me to list something you need).  See chart above to determine what you prefer.

This S8612 filter is absorption type filter glass, and is far superior to interference type "hot mirror" filters, such as the B+W 486 filter which will exhibit uneven color anomalies radiating from the center to the sides of photos.  Schott S8612 glass looks blue to you and me, but it does not look blue to a full spectrum camera. You can now shoot ultraviolet, infrared, and normal visual photos with the same full spectrum camera!

I am happy to make this and other hard to find specialty filters, sizes, thicknesses, and shapes available to you on request.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions or requests. Please let me know if you find any errors in my listings.
