Antique Victorian English Papier Mache Crumb Tray and Brush Decorated with Flowers Butterflies circa 1855

Here we have a very attractive item of antique papier mache. This crumb tray or crumb catcher and brush dates from around 1850 -60, the Victorian period.

It is a functional item as well as very decorative and would have been used by a hostess - or her servant - to clean away any crumbs from a table cloth. A perfect accessory for any afternoon tea table!

The tray has a lovely scalloped top and a hole in the centre, making it easy to hold. the brush is curved for the easy gathering up all those wayward crumbs. Both pieces are decorated with a printed design featuring Poppy flowers, foliage and butterflies.

The tray is approx 10 inches by 10 inches and the brush is approx 13 inches long. They are in good antique condition with just a few  very minor marks, scuffs and lacquer loss commensurate with age and use.

It weighs a total of 336g unpacked.

This is a great find for any collector and a very decorative piece of papier mache for display and use.
