This is a 2nd Class Relic of Roman Catholic Saint Mutien-Marie of Malonne F.S.C., who was a member of the Brothers of Christian Schools in Belgium

He was Beatified October 30, 1977, in Vatican City, by Pope Paul VI and Canonized December 10, 1989, in Vatican City, by Pope John Paul II.

The inside photo is definitely an old photo of a Nun kneeling at St. Mutien-Marie's tomb.  This photo and the stamp as well as the fact that the vinyl cover doesn't not state Blessed or Saint this piece has to pre-date 1977. I can give you an educated guess as to when this was made which would be around the 1920s; however, without any other indicators, I cannot give a date on this piece of Catholic Saint history.

In French
the front of the vinyl reads:
Frère Mutíen Marie Malonne

Translates to:
Brother Mutíen Marie Malonne

Inside the vinyl protective cover is a 2nd Class Relic.  The seal is in French reads:
Parcelle du vestement du Fr. Mutien Marie

Which translates to:

A piece of vestement of Br. Mutien Marie

Because this is actually from a piece of cloth worn by this Saint, this piece is actually a 2nd Class Relic.  The photo clearly has water damage, this piece does have the smell of something that has sat in an attic, the vinyl is still holding strong, photo and Relic were put into this holder in reverse order (the words on the front are upside down when you open the piece, I am NOT removing them and fixing them as their condition may change upon removal).  This is not perfect and is very rare.

Information on Relics:
Relic card reads "Ex Induments" which is Latin for "from the clothing".  This phrase was originally designated for 2nd Class Relics ONLY as they were from the clothing of the Saints or Blessed individuals; however, contemporary relic manufacturers have been using the phrase as a way to identify 3rd Class Relics as well. Making it difficult to identify the correct class of Relics.

3rd Class Relics are pieces of cloth, canvas, or any item that has touched the to a First or Second Class Relic of the Saint the intent that it be a Third Class Relic. In the case of a 3rd Class Relic, the Catholic Church states may be given to individuals and may be sold; unlike the 1st Class Relic which the Catholic Church does not allow the sale of. In the case of the 4th Class Relic, they are are virtually the same as Third Class Relics.

The Third Class Relics on the Medals:
These are typically what you purchase on a Pilgrimage to a Shrine of a Saint. When you look at the back of a medal and see a small piece of cloth set in red that small piece of cloth is the relic.  The outer edge will either have raised lettering or engraving that reads “EX INDUMENTIS” (Latin for "touched cloth".) You will notice that all of these medals are made in Italy as they are sanctioned by the Vatican.

When properly reverenced, Relics are considered to be powerful Sacramentals, in order for this to occur, the Church recommends ALL Relics to be blessed by a Deacon or Priest of the Roman Catholic Church.  Relics are NOT to be taken lightly! These are considered precious gifts from our Holy Saints and to be treated with reverence and respect.
