carmilla , White edition Wall plaque. 

 Carmilla is a Gothic novella by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu and one of the early works of vampire fiction, predating Bram Stoker's Dracula by 26 years.

Having read the story after viewing the classic hammer horror movie the vampire lovers which is also based on the story, I felt inspired to sculpt and capture the mystery and beauty of the character carmilla. 

She has been portrayed many times over the years in both movies and tv etc, but I feel the story has that extra something that's yet to be captured in cinema and television. 

Working on the sculpture the body was sculpted from life class and sketches made at the time, her pose and movement is both seductive and innocent, but knowing her true nature as a vampire changes this sculpture from a nude study to gothic horror. 

The most difficult stage for me was capturing the likeness of carmilla from the description in the story, I went back to her face many times before I achieved the look I wanted to portray. 

Carmilla  is finished in a matt white, presented on a satin black base, setting off the sculpture perfectly. 

This figure is limited to 150, signed and numbered on the base.

Each sculpture is cast in a very high  quality polyurethane resin, reproducing all the details perfectly.
