A highly decorative pair of large ancient Chinese green glazed vases, dating to China's Han Dynasty, circa 206 BC - 220 AD.
The huge wheel thrown vessels of spherical form, standing on flat bases with gently rounded shoulders, decorated circumferentially with three bands of impressed cord design.
Two well balanced elegant vases, glistening with a silvery green glaze and traces of iridescence. For an example of similar form see, A. Lau (ed.), ‘Spirit of Han’, Sun Tree Publishing Ltd., Singapore 1991, no. 170.
