The process of manufacturing a double sided flag involves making two flags and then putting them together to make one. The flag is fully embroidered in amazing detail. Here's a little history on Vice Presidential limousine flags, up until the last year of the Ford administration Vice Presidential limousine flags were hand embroidered by the flag ladies in Philadelphia the same group of ladies who manufacture the Oval Office and White House flags for the president. Late in the Ford administration the White House began contracting the manufacturing of limousine flags to private companies which began to produce screen printed limousine flags. These screen printed flags were used until the last few years of the Bill Clinton administration. In 1997 embroidered presidential limousine flags were once again commissioned for use on the Presidential and Vice Presidential limousines. These embroidered flags were no longer manufactured by the flag ladies in Philadelphia rather contracted through the General.
