This is a superb antique French Art Nouveau carved horn Moth brooch,dating from around 1900.
The moth brooch is signed GIP the mark of Georges Pierre of Paris,one of the leading designers of horn jewellery in France at this time.
The brooch is beautifully carved withoutstretched wings in honey coloured translucent horn with darker areas of colour in the horn where the body and wing tips are which is very effective.It is in lovely un-damaged condition with not even the tiniest of nicks on the horn and has its original pin and "C" hook.It measures 8.5 cms x 2.3 cms.
A rare Art Nouveau carved horn moth brooch that would grace any collection.
