RANGE ROVER CLASSIC DECAL SETS
Are your original Range Rover Classic bonnet and tailgate decals sunbleached and almost disappearing or have you taken the plunge and embarked on a restoration of one of these iconic cars, spent a fair few quid on a top notch respray but find yourself struggling to source a pair of genuine decals as the finishing touch to your pride and joy? If so I may be able to help.
PLEASE NOTE: I have switched supplier and the decals are no longer made on Avery Dennison vinyl with a greaseproof paper overlay but from a high quality Hexis 10 year vinyl which has a clear plastic overlay, this is not only stronger than the paper but much more transparent which makes positioning the letters on your vehicle easier.
*** With over 200 sets of my decals sold to over 30 countries and counting worldwide, the fact
that these are the ONLY decals that have been painstakingly reproduced by
hand-tracing then digitalization of my genuine Land Rover old stock decals and
cut from genuine “Avery-Dennison” vinyl, the Original Equipment supplier to
Land Rover during the 1980s and 1990s, why would you buy elsewhere to save
yourself a fiver?!
Colours Available:
SILVER METALLIC (corresponding to Land Rover Part No. RTC6465)
The decal set comprises two “Range
Rover” scripts to fit to your bonnet and tailgate and one model designation
decal of your choice for your tailgate.

At last, some decent reproduction Range Rover classic decals!
Only a fortnight ago I saw a freshly resprayed Caingorm Brown 1991 Range Rover Vogue fetch close to an eye-watering £6000 on Ebay, but in my eyes it was monumentally let down by the last minute application of aftermarket Range Rover decals front and rear that were so far off the correct spacing and typeface it was laughable. It may as well have had 18-inch P38a wheels fitted or something equally inappropriate!
I am an enthusiast with four Classics that I am overseeing the sympathetic restoration of hence why I have commissioned a local graphics company to run me off some batches of Range Rover decals using my genuine and obsolete Land Rover supplied decal to use for reference. Happily I have had a few genuine Land Rover decals squirreled away in my loft for almost a decade and these were essential as the authentic typeface is not actually a recognised typeface or font at all and was developed by some Brummie codger in Lode Lane back in the mid-70s before the age of computer fonts and the like. My graphics company had to painstakingly hand trace each letter and digitalise it and set the spacing to mirror the genuine article.
I visited three times before I signed off the final article such was my determination to get it spot on for you discerning enthusiasts. Then it transpired that my RTC6465 silver decal with a main dealer picking date of 1991 differed ever so slightly in the spacing and two letters compared to my MUC2955LMP nimbus grey decal with a picking date of 2007 – did it come as any surprise that there was variation in a Solihull product that should have been exactly the same in all respects bar the colour?! Sadly not...
If you are an annoying Norman who thinks your Range Rover will be worth £15,000+ upon completion then my advice would be to hunt down some old wrinkled genuine Land Rover graphics so you can sleep at night knowing it came from a Land Rover branded cardboard box. For the rest of us in the real world, these are as near as you will get to the Real McCoy (which varied down the years in any event) and if they pass scrutiny under my 20/20 Lasik’d eye sight then they should be fine for you too. These are the exact decals that I will fit to my splendid specimens.
I last saw a genuine LR decal priced at £35 and this was for a single Range Rover script and in green of all colours. I am pricing my decal sets at £25 and for this you get two brand new “Range Rover” decals to cater for your bonnet and tailgate and your choice of model designation decal for the tailgate, “Vogue SE” or “Turbo D”.
Also bear in mind that genuine old stock graphics will inevitably have been sat for at least two decades in some dingy and damp corner of a parts warehouse. Do you still have a tube of glue from the late 1980s that you could still put to good use? My decal sets, cut from brand new vinyl, are bound to stick far better than ancient vinyl and provide many more years of looking pretty on your paintwork.
My photograph shows my genuine Land Rover decal laid out at the top with its Land Rover branded cardboard “tube” with my remanufactured graphics laid out underneath so you can see how good the match is.
I even went as far as insisting they were printed on the same 10 year “Avery” branded vinyl that the original items were, the second picture shows that the backing paper of the original decal is exactly the same as that of my reproduction item.
The “Vogue SE” decal again has been made using measurements from an original decal on one of my collection, but I will concede that I have had to use my best guess ability to get the “Turbo D” motif measurements correct as in my opinion a Classic aint a CLASSIC without a burbling petrol V8 under the bonnet, so I had no exact reference.
Please note that when new Land Rover would have happily told you that there was a separate part number for your bonnet decal to that for your tailgate claiming the former took account of the contour of the bonnet so was slightly different, having the benefit of genuine bonnet and tailgate decals in my attic, I can discern no difference, but I would urge you to take extra care when fitting a new decal so it sits on your bonnet to your satisfaction.
Update August 2014: I now also stock “Vogue LSE” and “County SE” tailgate identifier decals, currently these are only available in silver.
The factory Vogue LSE identifier was not a flat vinyl decal but a raised moulded resin badge to match the P38a style raised Range Rover bonnet and tailgate scripts fitted by this time, late 1992 onwards. As they have been obsolete worldwide for many years I have taken the initiative to have my own Vogue LSE decal made up. It is all in upper case letters as I had a mock up done with the lower case font as the original and it looked cheap, my version looks in keeping when fitted in conjunction with my bonnet and tailgate Range Rover scripts.
For American enthusiasts, I have had a “County SE” decal designed using the same font that European Vogue models had as I find the original County decals in a mock swirly handwriting font look extremely naff and jar with other fonts used on the vehicle. My decal looks much more prestigious and in keeping when fitted in conjunction with my bonnet and tailgate Range Rover scripts. If you own a County model as opposed to the County SE, then you can simply snip the SE portion off prior to fitting.
What about the Vogue EFI?
If you own a Vogue EFI then your car would not have come from the factory with ANY model designation decal to the right of the rear number plate, I know over the years those of dubious taste have sought fit to put V8 stickers and other tacky motifs on their tailgate, and of course a good many owners in the day liked to colour code their alloy wheels and stick a “Vogue SE” decal on the back to up their status in life. However, if like me, you prefer the EFI models with their cosy and hardwearing teddybear velour seats and their blissful lack of electric memory seats, ABS, air suspension and other migraine-inducing problematic nonsense, then may I suggest you fit my "Vogue EFI" tailgate decal available in silver only.
What colour decals should I buy?
I have compiled the table below to aid you, this is not cut and pasted from some Google search but something I have created from my in-depth knowledge of Range Rover Classics. There is no official information available from Land Rover and anything concerning exact switchover changes and dates as far as Land Rover is concerned will always be sketchy to say the least.
( If someone can tell me which post-1984 colour had green Range Rover decals fitted then do enlighten me as I have read what the books say but am yet to ever see them fitted to a car in the metal!)

Do you have other colours?
Initially I have had batches printed in the predominant colour Silver, and a few sets in the Nimbus Grey (a mid-dark graphite grey metallic colour).
I do have a genuine RTC6463 decal set in brown which I will
be fitting to my beloved Roman Bronze 3.9 EFI, but if there is enough demand I
have found a superb metallic brown vinyl which the graphics company would order
in specially if a batch of these were required and they would be more expensive
simply as the vinyl is much pricier.
Will these decals suit my year Range Rover Classic?
Putting my anorak on, (actually it’s a rather nice Barbour), strictly speaking my decal sets are correct for 1984-1992 vehicles.
Up to 1979 the Range Rover had individual black resin letters pinned into the bonnet and tailgate. As these made it trickier to keep clean and the drilled perforations into the bodypanels caused corrosion to bubble up, the 1980 model year saw bumpers painted satin black instead of aluminium silver and the tape decals were introduced.
However, these were two colour Range Rover graphics with letters in black with a thin white border (or silver on white painted cars).
In June 1984 the single colour graphics that we are familiar with were introduced. These are the type listed in my auction and those that I have had carefully reproduced.
For the 1993 model year, or thereabouts, a thinner “raised” style of graphic was introduced and the “Vogue SE” motif changed to be being in upper and lower case letters. Some K-registration Classics, such as my Brooklands Limited Edition, have the usual flat vinyl tape graphics, while later K-plate cars will sport the newer raised style graphic.
Ultimately is up to you, what you prefer, and whether you have the time and inclination to search out the exact original graphic for your year and colour of Range Rover, but at the price I am charging you could do worse than fit a set of decals anyway and remove them should you be fortunate to chance upon the style you really need.
Will you ship abroad?
Of course I will. It is at my discretion to insist on tracked courier services to certain naughty countries. Please bear in mind that it will take me a few days to furnish you with an exact shipping cost as I am only doing this for pin money and do not always have time to queue at the post office.
