De Havilland Tiger Moth

Scale Free Flight Rubber Power

This listing is for a 1/17.6 scale flying model of a de Havilland Tiger Moth. This design uses the precision beam method of construction. The model qualifies for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) competitions. This kit was designed by Roy Thomason for the Model Craft division of Easy Built Models.

De Havilland and his friend, engine designer Frank Hallford, modified a French motor and came up with a lighter and simpler version that powered the highly successful moth family of aircraft. The first such airplane flew in 1925 and continued through WWII. The moth family consisted of the Gipsy Moth, Giant Moth, Hawk Moth, Puss Moth, Swallow Moth, Tiger Moth, Fox Moth, Leopard Moth, and Hornet Moth. They served as personal aircraft, trainers, and light airliners.

This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size rolled plan and building and flying instructions. The wood is hand-picked competition weight printed balsa and balsa strip wood. Power is provided by the included rubber motor, an E-B (Easy Built) propeller, and a thrust button. Clear plastic for the windshield, the wheels, wire for the landing gear and E-B Lite yellow and black tissue complete the kit.  You will need a building board, hobby knife, pins, fine sandpaper and glue.
