The legendary Linn Kan speaker was built with a super high quality cabinet. So it just makes perfect sense to up-cycle and restore these wonderful and vibrant speakers to their former glory!
A properly set up, and restored, correctly driven set of Kans will trounce contemporary loudspeakers costing many hundreds pounds more than these. I'm happy to demonstrate this to anyone who cares to listen here at my dem room, or if you prefer in your own home - with no obligation.
Kans have a wonderfully accurate musical presentation and sound stage projection. You might want to spend over £2500 on a pair of old ATCs or similar to better them. And yes other contemporary speaker might sound ok. But are they a hundreds or even thousands of pounds 'better' than LINN KANS? - Certainly revitalised KANS still win hands down in many areas to my ear.
And as for Value for money - Well, nothing even begins to come close - Nothing available anywhere.
Full conversions to Bi wire available. KANS can be fully professionally re-finished and restored, to remain completely unmodified and original to their Factory Specification with only the addition of new Hiquphon tweeters or Scan speak Tweeters. These are new, like for like replacements of the tweeters as originally used by Linn. Also speaker leads, BI WIRE PLATES etc for connection to your chosen amplification ( Passive Stereo Bi wire. Bi Amp or Use with 4 Mono Blocks such as Naim Nap 135s ) and all guaranteed for 6 YEARS ! - A complete package with everything you need apart from Amp(s) and source components to complete your own Hi End Hifi system.

( And No !. sigh.... you don't have to destroy the cabinets to do this. This yet another myth perpetuated by the self professed 'experts' on the 'Hifi forums' and this, and numerous other myths, continue to circulate regarding speaker restoration generally......)

All traces of the old finish removed and the cabinets fully stripped back to bare wood veneer. The Minimal spike marks in in the bases filled with epoxy and Felt pads added. The Cabinets are checked for integrity and sealing. Then the cabs will be carefully prepared for the Black Ash finish to be professionally re-applied to all faces or Oiled wood veneer as required. The cross overs will be each been individually electrically checked, and individually listened to. And all electrical connections remade as necessary with high quality silver solder. Then the new drive units, in matched pairs refitted, with new gaskets for the Bass/Mid range as required, and original silicone for the tweeters. Every aspect of the speakers construction will be checked and verified correct to original Specification.
All Black Ash faces in excellent virtually as new condition, red reflection is my tee shirt !
Some slight Spike scratches to bases. Felt pads added - To protect against further Spike damage, but still allows firm holding of the speakers on the stands. Non Marking screws supplies along with original spikes - Best of both worlds as required !
New Kan sound exactly that - New ! To hear fully refurnished Kans is a revelation. The new Tweeter units really bring KANS right back to life!
Most people will be listening to KANS that have original drive units that are likely to be getting tired - Those sort of speakers are often for sale on eBay and will require lots of work, money and know-how to be spent on them to bring them to anyway near the standards of the beautifully and lovingly restored KANS I

Kans Can be configured for Passive use - They can also be configured for Bi amp operation utilising two stereo amplifiers or four Mono Blocks if desired - They can also Operate in the normal way with One stereo amplifier, in Bi wire, or convention single wire configuration.
They can also be configured for Full Active use at a small extra cost. Active cross overs are available - contact me for more details.
The late serials ( before Ku Stone ) are said to be the best type of Kan ever made.
Grills can be now be removed or kept in place as desired. Or returned to original Spec - Client to decide as required.
