Auction for a large 19th Century French needlework sampler in charming age related condition.

This charming large 24 inch square (2 foot square) antique French sampler depicts the alphabet in capitals and lower case and the numbers 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 together with floral borders and the images of fruit and flowers and a train, a cross, a butterfly, a rooster and a beetle.

It is signed in needlepoint by Marje Bouillon and is undated but probably dates to between 1850 and 1880.

The sampler has been framed in a 2ft square distressed painted vintage oak frame which is unglazed.

There is charming age related wear to the borders and alphabets but the images remain quite bright and well defined - see photographs
