From an old collection and a fortunate find by a metal detectorist is this early (from the time of the American Revolution) uniform button for a Royal Marine, a water find pewter other ranks example. This one appears similar to "BM.g." on page 56 in Don Troiani's "Military Buttons of the American Revolution" - note the diagnostic small ring at the top of the anchor consistent with wartime examples. There is no back mark, exactly as proper. Condition is quite good though not absolutely perfect, with no erosion to the edges and mostly clear devices. Surface preservation is actually very nice from having avoided 200 years of acidic soil. There is an ancient crusted over scrape to the face and the shank is the typical ancient loss. In all, just enough "salt" for visual charisma  and as evidence it likely saw the elephant. Size is about 17mm. I'm not sure what else to say, so there you are.
