Krivo Modéle Acoustíque Handmade Pickup for all Acoustic Guitars: Limited Edition Spalted Maple SALE $99.99

Marvelous pickups, not only wonderful for playing Gypsy jazz, but for any player looking for a good magnetic pickup for an acoustic guitar”— Acoustic Guitar Magazine, April 2016.

For years my customers have been asking me to develop a pickup for their Martin™ style acoustic guitars which would be a step up (both sonically and aesthetically) from the cheap mass-produced models made overseas by other manufacturers. Finally, I have heeded the call of my users and have delivered an acoustic pickup with incredible tonal beauty, feedback-resistance and an amazingly natural attack and shimmer which is also beautiful to behold.

Each and every Krivo pickup is personally hand-made in Portland, Oregon USA by me: critically acclaimed designer and professional musician Jason Krivo Flores. I specialize in making pickups for Gypsy Jazz and hard-to-fit archtop guitars, upright basses, custom designs, and resophonic instruments.

The Krivo pickup for Acoustic Guitar is proudly endorsed by Bill Marsh (Cherry Poppin Daddies, Edna Vazquez Band; professor of Guitar Studies: Lewis and Clark College, Willamette University), and Doug Shafer (Smut City Jellyroll Society).

The Krivo Modelé Acoustiqué features the following:

  • Innovative Optimized Microphonics design senses acoustic vibrations from soundboard in addition to string vibrations.
  • No modification to instrument, mounts in seconds. with included finish-friendly putty
  • Fully shielded and hum-cancelling for noise-free performance.
  • Adjustable pole pieces for perfect string-to-string balance.
  • Very responsive to EQ a wide range of tonal colors are at your disposal, from bright and transparent to thick and colored.
  • Works equally well with a tube amp or Schertler, AER type acoustic amps.
  • Uses neodymium magnets for clarity and brilliance with strong lows.
  • Excellent transparent acoustic tone.
  • Incorporates a 1/4″ guitar cord, just plug right into any amp.

The Krivo Difference: Innovative Designs with a Classic Aesthetic.

  • Unlike most magnetic pickups on the market today, Krivo pickups are specifically designed and voiced for their particular acoustic instruments—they are not simply modified off-the-shelf designs from electric guitar and bass! Each design is player-tested and approved before being offered as a bona fide model. Here are some of Krivo’s innovative features:

  • Krivo pickups use neodymium magnets for high output, clarity, and tight bass response. Because neodymium magnets are extremely strong, I am able to make pickups which are very small and thin and thus are able to fit in tight-quarters and on hard-to-fit instruments.

  • My proprietary Optimized Microphonics enables my pickups to sense sound and finger board vibrations in addition to the vibrations of the strings. This enables my designs to provide a much more natural “acoustic” tonal pallette than typical magnetic pickups whilst retaining a very high degree of feedback resistance. Krivo pickups are never “potted” in wax or epoxy like mass-produced pickups.

  • Phase Balanced™ Hum-Cancelling Design: Unlike traditional PAF™ “humbuckers” my dual coil pickups cancel hum without muddying tone. This is because by using a split coil design I eliminate the need to add a second set out-of-phase poles as in PAFs. This means all strings are sensed via same polarity magnet, thus eliminating phasey and dull high-end response evinced by traditional humbucking pickups.

  • All my pickups use audiophile-grade Mogami™ cable inside and out as well as the highest quality Switchcraft connectors.

  • I use vintage-spec 44 AWG Formvar™ magnet wire rather than the thicker (and significantly cheaper) single polynylon 42-43 gauge wire used by most big overseas companies. The thinner gauge enables more compact designs as well as, I believe, contributes to the tonal clarity by keeping more of the windings closer to the magnets.

  • “Scatter” winding and mismatched coils: Like many renowned pickup-makers, I scatter-wind and slightly mis-match the coils on all my humbuckers. This enables my pickups to recapture the high-end “air” that is cancelled-out and lost in traditional humbuckers. Scatter winding also keeps my pickups from sounding “sterile.”

  • Genuine hardwood finishes. This batch is made of beautiful and rare Spalted Maple—while supplies last.
