Description
Montreal 1976 Olympic Games Official Participation Medal, in its original case. I would say that this example was in extremely fine (EF) condition, but please study my photos and form your own opinion of its grade. The case is also in good condition.
Made from Copper, Diameter 45 mm, Thickness 3 mm, Weight 40.0 grams, Mintage 19,760, Designers Georges Huel and Pierre-Yves Pelletier.
This is one of the smaller and simpler of a long and highly collectable line of Olympic Participation Medals, awarded to athletes, judges and other officials at virtually all the modern Olympic and Winter Olympic Games, beginning in Athens in 1896.
The obverse depicts a stylised "M" incorporated into the Olympic emblem, while the reverse displays the Montreal Olympic Stadium above the legend "XXIe Olympiade Montreal 1976".
