AF Nikkor 200mm F3.5 IF ED lens

this uncommon AF Nikkor 200mm F3.5 IF ED prime lens designed for use with
the rare F3AF autofocus SLR
Released in 1983, the AF 200mm f/3.5 has its own driving motor in the lens
and doesn't require the F3AF camera body to drive it. It is in a sense, the
predecessor to the current AF-S series lenses. This first generation AF Nikkor
lens also predates the electronic EF series lenses for the Canon EOS based
SLR cameras, by 5 years, so it was a real ground breaker in its day. In addition,
this lens is Nikkor Ai-S in nature and thus, also having rabbit ears, is one
of only two standard production Nikkor autofocus lenses that is fully compatible
with even older non-AI Nikon SLR bodies, just obviously as manual focus.
The lens is compatible in auto focus with the F3AF only
The AF 200mm
f/3.5 ED-IF lens weighs 868g and measures 157mm in length (80mm x 149mm x
157mm). It has a narrower angle of view at 12° and a filter attachment
size of 62mm. Two pieces of ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements are used
on the first and second element in a 8 elements in 6 group optical construction
which also features an IF (internal focus) design for smoother AF operation;
It can only close focus to 2m and stopped down to f/32 for extra depth of
field control. The lens also incorporated with a "dust" filter which
is not part of its optical design but rather, helps prevent penetration of
dust and moisture. It also has a retractable lens hood
As grading condition is subjective, I photographed all sides for you to draw you own conclusion on its cosmetics. The glass has no scratches. Some internal dust - nothing to affect image quality. There is no fungus. Aperture opens and closes properly with no oil on the leaves. Focus is smooth and accurate.
