The Cap has a factory fresh engraving 'MONTBLANC – GERMANY' Gold single fluted clip – signifying it is the early variant. Gold top band, into which the white Montblanc star is set in black precious resin. The push on cap is very secure, and 'clicks' into place firmly and nicely. Barrel again in stainless steel – unmarked has a single narrow gold band at the base, into which is set another Montblanc star. The Stainless Steel is very bright, almost chrome looking. A very polished finish to it. Nib section, unmarked – with the crystalline type finish still present and looking excellent. Nib – Gold marked 585 – appears to be a Medium or possibly an Oblique Medium - it is very very flexible, a really nice smooth nib. These nibs are hand finished, and of the 'wing nib' design which gives great strength and flexibility. Their writing style is dependant on the pressure applied – so will be different for each user, again dependant on how you write and hold the pen. The Fountain pen is in really super condition. GOLD clip is perfect Star on the top of the cap is perfect Factory imprints perfect In excellent overall used condition. Overall the pen is quite stunning. A very nice brushed stainless steel finish, with bright GOLD accents cannot fail to be noticed laid on a table or in the hand. These pens use the standard Montblanc cartridge filler refills (supplied) or a piston converter - NOT supplied. This is a metal bodied pen - strong - light - slim -and a pleasure to hold and use. Metal bodied they should last a lifetime, and give many years of service. This pen is over 30 years old, and is still looks fantastic, a testimony to their build quality.

I now tend to concentrate on the metal bodied pens throughout the range, as these are far stronger, wear well with age, and last much longer than their precious resin counterparts. They are also able to take abuse, and the day to day knocks, bumps and falls. I ensure that they are supplied with a working cartridge or refill, and if not will say so, and assist in my listings with possible alternatives for future use.
