Musical Fidelity V90 DAC
The V90-DAC follows on from the amazing V-DAC II which was a massive worldwide success. Offering true 24/192 upsampling and reclocking. There is a fundamental difference with all the other legacy V-Series and the V90 DAC, with the connections moved to the front and back of the DAC for easier use and placement in a hifi so that cables are not coming out the side! Stunning Performance
The
V90-DAC offers stunning technical performance with below 0.00025%
distortion at 1 kHz. This remains virtually unchanged at 20 kHz, which
is quite an engineering feat, though we expect no less from Musical
Fidelity. And the 'A weighted' noise is better than 120 db down.
Linearity is maintained down to at least 115 db.
At the heart of
the V90-DAC are state-of-the-art DACs and filters of the same types used
in expensive products. These components define the performance
potential. The purpose of every other part of the DAC is to extract the
maximum performance (and from our point of view, cost as little as
possible) from these state-of-the-art components.
The V90-DAC is small and compact saving valuable space
"The
amount of componentry on the V90-DAC’s PCB is no different to the heart
of any state-of-the-art DAC," says Musical Fidelity founder Antony
Michaelson. "It is small because we do not spread the components out to
fill up an unnecessarily large PCB area."
USB, Toslink, and Coaxial Connections
The
V90-DAC uses a state-of-the-art 32-bit DAC chip. Before that is a 192
kHz asynchronous, re-clocking sample rate converter. This reduces jitter
to vanishing levels. Despite its compact size, the V90-DAC offers
wide-ranging connectivity. It has two optical inputs, one coaxial S/PDIF
input, and one 24-bit, 96 kHz asynchronous USB input. The USB input
lets you connect a PC or portable digital device and experience your
musical files in a whole new light.
The
V90-DAC matches its excellent sound quality with an exceptional new
look for a V-Series component. The high performance electronics of the
V90-DAC is housed inside an elegant new case. The front panel and cover
are custom-made fine line extrusions. The finish is crystal bead shot
blast, fine texture moonstone. The overall fit-and-finish gives the
impression of an expensive high-end product.
Ruler-flat Frequency Response
The
V90-DAC is the newest generation of the standard-setting value and
performance of Musical Fidelity’s acclaimed V Series. The ruler-flat
frequency response and excellent stereo separation restore the
authenticity that's missing from some digital recordings. Musical
Fidelity uses state-of-the-art digital components and implements them
with state-of-the-art circuitry and layout.
