107 Squadron also known as the " Knights of the Orange Tail Squadron "is
a pilot fighter jets in IAF .Aircraft squadron currently operates F-16I ("Storm")
from the base premises inthe Negev .

The squadron was formed on 25 January 1953 as a pilot
Spitfire base level of David under the name "Third Squadron Spitfires",
and was used primarily for the advanced training course (KAM).
December 1953 the squadron became a reserve squadron,
and in April 1954 the squadron was converted into fighter squadron
June 1956 Mustangs were transferred to 105 Squadron and instead
got the Spitfires of 105 Squadron intended to be operated by the pilot
during an emergency. In September 1956 the squadron was due to
the removal from service Spitfires Israeli Air Force
(most of them were sold to Burma).
In February 1962 the Squadron was re-base level aircraft received
David meteor from 117 Squadron ("First Jet Squadron"), who was clearing
the aircraft to the Mirage 3C amenities. In July 1963 they were joined by
other Meteor jets training (NF-13) from 119 Squadron("squadron").

On 15 September 1965 the Squadron was re squadron Ouragan

Two weeks before the Six Day War, the squadron deployed in

war under the command of Major Jacob Turner and performed during
attacks on airfields and positions radar in Egypt and Jordan

In July 1967 the squadron, and aircraft joined Ouragan

the squadron re-opened as a pilot in the F-4 Phantom ("sledgehammer")
under the name "Knights of the Orange Tail Squadron" In the premises,
and the first commander was appointed to develop Spector
.Phantom aircraft squadron began to receive
beginning on December 10 of that year.
On 2 January 1973 jets were scrambled six MiG-21 aircraft at the
Syrian Mirage photo sortie carried out by the Israeli South Lebanon.
It was the first time that Syrian planes were scrambled to intercept the IAF

As of July 2005, the 107 squadron was scheduled to begin flying F-16I aircraft out of the IAF base at Ramon but had not yet moved to the base. The 107 squadron was formed in January 1953 as was originally composed of more than a dozen Spitfire aircraft based at Ramat David airfield. The squadron was disbanded in 1954, but was reformed during the early 1960s with several Meteor aircraft received from the 117 squadron. In 1971, the 107 squadron became the fourth F-4E squadron in the Israeli Air Force.
