This is a super antique hallmarked sterling silver cup/trophy measuring 5" (12.5 cms) tall x 5" (12.5 cms) across including the handles. The hallmark reads Birmingham 1946 with the silversmiths mark for G.Bryan & Co who worked from Standard Works, Great Hampton Street, Birmingham. On the front it is marked 'Bugatti Owners Club' 'Prescott Open Hill Climb, May 19th 1946, Fastest Sports Car, E.J.Newton, 55 30 secs'.

'The club was established in 1929 with the express objective of promoting motor sport. The Bugatti Owners’ Club (BOC)  purchased the Prescott estate in 1937 and commenced converting the muddy, rutted drive into a speed hill climb ready for the opening rally in April 1938, when the Club President, Earl Howe, opened proceedings by driving his type 57 Bugatti up the Hill.  Today Prescott is the home of the Bugatti Owners Club'

The cup weighs 108 grams and is in good condition with some light surface marks - I have bought a few of these trophies so please see listings if you are interested.  Please scroll down to see photos and email if you have any queries - all questions will be answered between 9am and 6pm UK time.
