~ 1851 Allen & Moore Crystal Palace International Industrial Exhibition Medal ~

This medal, numbered BHM 2422, is made from white metal & depicts Crystal Palace at the 1851 Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, London. Below the palace is a selection of information regarding the building of the famous exhibition. The reverse depicts Queen Victoria & Prince Albert surrounded by a floral reef.

It is housed within it’s original red leather case with blue velvet lining. 

The medal was made by Allen & Moore. 

The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Nations or The Great Exhibition, sometimes referred to as the Crystal Palace Exhibition in reference to the temporary structure in which it was held, was an international exhibition that took place in Hyde Park, London, from 1 May to 11 October 1851. It was the first in a series of World's Fair exhibitions of culture and industry that became popular in the 19th century. 

~ Dimensions ~

The medal has a diameter of 2 inches (5.1 cm). The case has a diameter of 2.5 inches (6.4 cm). The set weighs 50 g.

~ Condition ~

The case has some minor wear to the lower edge.
Aside from some minor surface wear, such as a few scratches and a small amount of age wear the medal is in excellent condition.
