Vibra-Technics Automotive technical staff have over 35 years experience in the design of Automotive powertrain and suspension mounting systems. This experience was gained working for a number of Multi-National Rubber Companies engaged in the design and manufacture of chassis components used by all the major Automobile Manufacturers.
Why Rubber ?
Vibra-Technics products are manufactured primarily from natural rubber compounds and occasionally from blends of synthetic and natural rubber to give particular properties for specific applications. Extensive experience and testing in all kinds of environmental conditions by Automobile Manufacturers has shown that only natural rubber compounds give optimum performance and durability (which is why it is still universally used today by every car manufacturer). Where the rubber needs to be attached to metal components, this is achieved by chemically bonding the rubber to the metal during the molding process, using the latest chemical adhesive systems.
What Will Vibra-Technic Mounts Do For You ?
Our rubber-to-metal bonded products are designed specifically for high performance applications where a direct replacement for the standard mount is required along with a much higher level of engine control to cope with higher engine outputs and higher road inputs caused by fast driving. The Performance Road mounts give significant improvements in ride and handling without adversely affecting vibration isolation. The competition mounts also eliminate clearance problems with strut braces and exhaust systems, body panels etc. and improve handling whist still giving vibration isolation at high engine speeds. Competition mounts are not recommended for road use.
What’s the difference between a Performance Road mount and a Competition mount ?
Engine mounting systems are a balance between isolating engine vibration and controlling engine movement. The engine mounting system is in effect an engine suspension system. Its geometry can be as critical as the main suspension system on your car. The same factors affect its performance, stiffness damping, deflection etc. When we design a system we go back to the first principals of vibration isolation, to ensure that we develop something which has the primary function of isolating vibration from your engine.
The main difference between a Performance Road system and a Competition system is the point at which they isolate engine vibration. Performance Road systems have to isolate vibration right down to idle speed which is extremely difficult to achieve whilst controlling engine movement and requires careful tuning of the mount stiffness. Be aware that the Performance Road mounts are stiffer than the original equipment so may give some perceptible vibration. Competition systems have an isolation threshold above 3000RPM, below which the transmitted vibration can still be quite high. This allows us to make the system much stiffer to control engine movement to a minimum, typically less than 3mm (compared with 25-30mm for an OEM system.
