Vintage wooden artists' storage box, with a few old brushes and tools (some damaged).
Hinged double lid that opens out to form two "trays", as shown.
Probably made in the early 20th century.

This is an old item.
It is nice, old-fashioned, unpretentious and serviceable item.
There is no maker's name, and the box appears to have been built for convenience rather than aesthetic value.
It may possibly be a homemade item?

It does not have any sort of a lock or closure, so if you want to use it for travelling or outdoor work, you would need to add a latch or a strap to make sure it didn't overturn and spill the contents.

The contents include:

• 6 assorted artists' brushes, one marked "Cambridge Brush", and one marked "FOREIGN".
  
• 1 empty brush handle marked "Cambridge Brush".
• one sharpened stick - presumably some sort of artists' tool?
• two wooden tools, with short metal spikes - one is pointed, the other has a flat end - I have no idea whether it is meant to be like that, or if the point has snapped off?
  

All these brushes and tools are stained, scuffed, and no longer in prime condition.

Condition
Vintage box, many decades old, and in need of a clean.
I do not know anything about art or artist's equipment, and I cannot judge the condition in any expert way.
Please check the photographs carefully to make sure the item is in suitable condition for you.
There are plenty of stains on the outside and inside, including what appears to be paint, ink, pencil and some water splashes.
The hinges still work well, and the box opens and closes easily, with just a tiny gap (one-eighth of an inch) between the two halves of the lid .
The edges are scuffed and chipped, as you can see.
There are also a couple of splits in the wood - the worst one is shown in the close-up photograph.

The brushes and tools are stained, scuffed, and damaged to varying degrees - please see detailed description and pictures.
