CARDIFF RUGBY 1920-21 HONOURS CAP - TOMMY JOHNSON

A 1920-21 Cardiff Rugby Football Club cap awarded to Tommy Johnson in velvet with silver braiding and tassel, the date to the peak and with crest badge to the front. First gaining representative honours with Welsh Schools in 1907. Johnson won his first full international cap for Wales in 1921 against England. As a wing or full back he played 12 matches in total for the principality, infamously appearing in the first ever defeat against the New Zealand All Blacks at Swansea in 1924. 'Codger' Johnson played the majority of his club football with Cardiff making 187 appearances and captaining the side in the 1924-5 season. It is also recorded that he played for Penarth and Newport. The lining is distressed and there is some discolouration to the velvet. Generally the cap is in good condition in particular the braiding is very good.
