Honda Gold Wing GPS Input Audio Interface
for GPS, Phone & Radar Detector

Allows the rider to hear spoken GPS instructions over the Gold Wing intercom - as if the GPS were a third passenger!

Designed for all GL1800 and F6B Gold Wing Motorcycles

The Problem

You own a GL1800 or F6B. You bought and mounted a GPS to help guide you on your trips. Or, you use the GPS on your cell phone to help you find your way. However, in order to follow the GPS, you have to continually take your eyes off the road to look at the tiny screen, trying to guess when it wants you to take that next turn or exit! Wouldn't it be nice if you could hear the GPS talking to you? Now, you can!

The Solution

The Goldwing GPS Input is an electrical interface between your GPS, cell phone, laser/radar detector, or any other device that produces audio and has a 3.5mm output jack. Plugged into your device, it routes the audio directly into your Goldwing's intercom system, allowing you to hear the device just as if it were a third passenger talking! If you are listening to the radio, the radio will mute automatically when the GPS makes an announcement, just as it would if you or a passenger began talking.

How does it sound?

Great! With its built-in ground loop isolator, you'll never hear any alternator whine or other interference. It includes a volume control, so that you can set the level of your device to match what you expect to hear on your intercom. And because it's a direct, electrical connection, the audio is crystal-clear!

Will it work with my GPS?

It will work with any GPS that has a 3.5mm audio output jack - make sure your GPS has this feature before ordering! It will also work with any cell phone that has a 3.5mm headphone jack - which is pretty much any cell phone made in the last ten years or so. Keep in mind the audio is one way - from the device to your motorcycle intercom. You can't talk back to your cell phone. It also works great with any radar detector that also has a 3.5mm audio output jack.

How hard is it to install?

Installing the Goldwing GPS Input requires only one screwdriver and about ten minutes of your time. It plugs in directly to your existing wiring harness, and does not require any cutting or modifications to your bike. It can be removed just as easily as it is installed, with no evidence that it was ever there! Detailed instructions with color pictures are included, and full unlimited support is provided on the goldwingdocs.com web site.

Can I play music through it?

Yes...with one caveat. Because the Goldwing GPS Input inserts the audio into your Goldwing's intercom, the sound is not in stereo, because the intercom is not stereo. While playing music is not the intended purpose of the device, it will work just fine if that's what you choose to use it for.

Will it play through my speakers?

No. It injects the audio into your intercom system, which means it will play over your helmet headset speakers only, just like your intercom does.

Will it work on my GL1100, GL1200 or GL1500?

The connectors are specifically designed to work on the GL1800. There is a different model made for the GL1500. However, the Goldwing GPS Input is electrically compatible with the intercom system used in the GL1100 and GL1200. If you are handy, and don't mind a little cutting and soldering, it can be done. How reliable is it?

The GPS Audio Input is built to withstand years of abuse. It is designed and manufactured in the USA, and every one is fully tested before shipping.

Comments from actual customers:

"It arrived quickly. It took me longer to read the instructions than it did to install the kit. Very straight forward and easy to do, It works like a charm, I now have that "sexy" voice nagging me to make left turns right in my helmet. The radio volume fades out when the GPS speaks and fades back in when "she" stops nagging. This is a well made device that simply plugs into the existing wiring harness, there is no alternator whine or other electrical interference in the headset (probably because of the built in ground loop isolator) . If you want to uninstall it and move it to another bike, you simply unplug it and reinstall it on the other bike. Great design, I am glad I ordered it up."

"Now I don't have to stop and keep reading a map to find my way back to the Motel or Camp ground. I just put in the address and listen to the turn by turn instructions. The audio input device works great!! And like the ad says, it's easy to install."

"I ordered one of these last week to install on my GL1500, so that I could hear my GPS talk to me. I got it two days after I placed the order. It looks very professional, in some nice packaging. I set aside an evening to install it, but I needn't have bothered. The instructions are clear, with simple pictures, and following them it took me all of ten minutes to install. Anyone who knows which end of a screwdriver to use can do it."

"I ordered this on Sunday night. Figured it would take a week or so to get here but it arrived in today's mail (4 days including a Holiday). It would have gotten here sooner had it not been for the 4th of July Holiday. Within 5 minutes of ordering I had received an email telling me the order was received and processed. Within 30 minutes of that I had a tracking number. Then Tuesday I received a thank you card in the mail. This company is on the ball. I knew from the moment I ordered it to the moment I received it where in the process of delivery it was. I really wasn't in the mood to install it today but after reading the directions and looking at it I decided to go ahead and see how the installation would go. As someone else said after purchasing one "it took longer to read the directions than it did installing it" wasn't kidding. I took less than 10 minutes to install. Simple plug and play. I'm going to Ky at the end of July with a group and wanted to make sure everything worked as advertised so of course I had to try it out. I have my cell service with Sprint and use the HTC EVO. After plugging everything in, I put in an address on the cell and hit send. After the directions loaded ( I had the radio on as well) the music ceased and the directions came across the helmet headset crystal clear. Ok, test 1 complete. Now the real test. I figured I ride to the gas station and top off so I put in the address of a friend of mine and off I went. Everything went off without a hitch, no bleed over from the alternator, music cut out when directions were given and came on afterwards. Even though you can't talk into the phone thru the mike you can hear the phone ring and in my case I heard the call as they were leaving a voice mail message. Had it been important I could have simply pulled over and called back but in this case it could wait until I got home. I've already notified some of my Gold Wing friends so expect some more orders. Bottom line, awesome item and worth every penny."

"It works perfectly! I hear my GPS talking loud and clear, and when it talks, it mutes the music in my helmet, just as if my wife was talking on the intercom. I love this thing!"

"Got mine a couple weeks ago, and installed, its great. Had a buddy order one after he saw mine and he just installed his. Thanks great item and fast shipping."

"I'm extremely happy with the integrated audio system on my new 2012 Nav GL1800, but have been looking for a good way to integrate a Beltronics RX65 radar detector. In the latest GoldwingDocs newsletter, I read about Goldwing GPS Audio Input Devices sold on this site. Skeptical, but willing to try a $60 risk compared to the other far more expensive "solutions," I ordered one and received it three days later. The installation was just as described in the instructions, and not difficult. It's simple, it works, and it's the best $60 I've ever spent on bike electronics."
