Hi, Selling this absolutely breath taking Bronze oni holding a singing bowl by the master sculptor of the Meiji period in Japan Miyao Eisuke. I personally love Oni's and this Oni is truly stunning and detailed from his lion head shorts, to his curly hair and beastly face and horns, this is a masterpiece. The singing bowl he is holding up is huge, held in place by 2 screws and features a dragon and clouds and such all around and is also signed as shown. The base is the original detailed base and he is held in place with the original nuts. This has to be the most amazing piece by Miyao ever to be sold on Ebay, as these pieces are normally held in the most up market galleries. He is in wonderful condition with NO damages i can find, as is the singing bowl which sings beautifully. The original and very detailed base was damaged in transit but put together again by a master restorer and displays perfectly (you can see where it was damaged inside). It measures a monumental 30" in total height, the Oni measures just under 18" in height, the singing bowl measures roughly 12" in diameter and 9" in height and the wooden base is almost 4" in height 11.4" in width and 9" in depth and the hole thing is very heavy as expected. This is an absolute must for any collection and displays really really well.

The Miyao Company of Yokohama, under its founder Miyao Eisuke, was a prolific producer of medium to large-scale patinated and gilded bronze ornamental sculptures. These works often depicted characters from Japanese legend and mythology and as such appealed both to the Japanese market, where the subject matter would be clearly understood, and the Western market where the sheer exoticism of the subject matter together with fine workmanship would appeal.

All offers will be considered.

As you can see from my Excellent 100% feedback, I am an honest Ebay seller.
