~ Ulster Home Guard Silver Salver Dublin 1896 ~

The salver is of circular form with a raised scalloped shaped and gadrooned rim. It rests on four hoofed feet.

The centre is engraved with a repeating pattern of a circle with floral patterns within the centre. At the centre of this, it is engraved:

“Presented to 2nd Lt. D.Johnston by the N.C.Os & Men of Dunmore – Crossgare Platoon U.H.G., December 1944”.

Underneath the piece, it is hallmarked for JS&S (John Sherwood & Sons Birmingham). The other marks are the Dublin harp, a date letter for 1896 and a crown.

~ Dimensions ~

The salver has a diameter of 10.2 inches (25.9 cm) and stands at 1 inches (2.5 cm) tall.
It weighs 475 g.

~ Condition ~

Aside from the typical scratches and minor wearing the salver remains in good condition, no signs of denting or major damage.
