Vtg Bamboo & Bone Mahjong Set 152 Tiles Hand Carved Chinese w/ Box


  • Bone and bamboo wood tiles with dovetail construction.
  • The bone is thin but the dovetails are tight, except the 8 joker tiles.
  • Each carved and painted.
  • Vintage age unknown.
  • Appears pieces are original to the set except the 8 joker tiles.

Set Description:

  • 16 Wind tiles 4 of each: North, South, East, West
  • 4 green dragons
  • 4 red dragons
  • 4 white dragons blank white
  • 4 flower tiles
  • 4 season tiles
  • 36 suit circle tiles 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
  • 36 suit bamboo tiles 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 the number one bams are sparrows and the rest bamboo carvings.
  • 36 suit character tiles 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 Note: one number 1 tile doesn't have the one on it-see pictures.
  • 8 additional blank joker tiles appear to be added to the set
  • Total=152 tiles
  • 101  bone counting sticks. 
  • Set of dice.
  • Round box with 2 disks, doesn't shut properly.

Condition:

  • Vintage condition. 
  • Box has wear, bottom drawer has loose sides at dovetails and needs gluing. 
  • Tiles have different coloration in the joker tiles and some nicks. 
  • Some sticks are broken and color of the dots is fading.
  • Round disk holder doesn't close properly.

Measures approximately:

Tiles: 1 1/8" tall x 6/8" wide x 3/8" tall
Sticks: 2 1/2" long x 1/4" wide
Box: 9" across x 6" tall x 7" deep
