Paillard - Switzerland
With Carrying Case, Instruction Booklet, Warranty Certificate, Extra New Ribbon
An excellent Hermes 3000 typewriter in Seafoam Green in beautiful cosmetic shape
and perfect working condition.
Paillard set up its typewriter plant in Yverdon, Canton Vaud, Switzerland in 1913
and created some of the finest typing machines available. The Hermes 3000
made its debut in 1958 and was an instant success. Known for its precision,
style and durability, it is one of the most sophisticated manual portable typewriters
ever produced and a testament to Swiss engineering. The first to introduce lightning
margins, the Hermes 3000 features a control board grouping all the service keys
together and an integrated unibody base plate and cover to facilitate handling and
operation.
Works beautifully with no sticky keys, smooth operation and a carriage return that
functions effortlessly. Keys make a delicious click-clack sound when typing and
the machine has great "touch". Very clean and with no significant flaws. The body
is smooth and unblemished. The lettering on the back side has a few letters partially
rubbed off. The edge of the base shows a few slight dings. Some white correction
fluid has accrued to the plastic plate in front of the roller. The case opens and closes
easily and the key to the case is attached by a string to the handle. The current ribbon
produces a light type.
Included with the typewriter is the original 18 pp. Instruction Booklet, Warranty Certificate
(never mailed in by the original owner at the time of purchase in 1964), a small packet of
partially used correction paper, and a small box containing one new sealed package of
nylon ink ribbon in black medium type stamped as compatible for Hermes typewriters.
For versatility, performance, durability and ease of operation the Hermes 3000 is a
fantastic typing machine. A favorite of many writers and journalists over the years.
Deliciously "retro", this Swiss beauty bears the Serial Number #3142328 which dates
this Hermes 3000 to 1962 - the same year as the Cuban Missile Crisis.
