This is a well and deeply carved stag antler pipe case (Kiseruzutsu). I love the way the natural texture of the stag antler is used in the design as part of a tree trunk. The carving depicts a samurai holding pole with what looks like a flag or banner with some Japanese writing on it against a back drop of pine trees, mountains, houses and prunus.
It is in very good antique condition with no repairs or any obvious defects.
The cord hole is behind a branch (see pictures).
All in all, a nice addition for a collection of sagemono.
