This is Beautiful Early Victorian Solid Silver Seal Top Combination Dip Pen and Propelling Pencil. i would estimate it dates to circa 1840 making it over 170 years old, the design and decoration is stunning, its Hexagonal shaped body has the most beautiful brightcut engraved decoration of flowers and foliage and a delicate zig zag design.. At the bottom end is a band decorated with an acanthus leaf design around the outside. At the top is a nicely shaped removable screw top, beautifully decorated in a matching acanthus leaves design. On the top end is an inset milky gemstone cap seal. To the centre of the body you will see a double slider decorated in a matching acanthus leaf design which extends & retracts the internal pencil and dip pen mechanism. The pencil has a twist action tip which extends & retracts the pencil lead mechanism. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a wealthy Victorian Gentleman and used daily in a time when things were so very different. As was often the case with small items of silver from this period & of this design it is not hallmarked but has been acid tested to confirm solid silver, it is so very tactile and once picked up has the most wonderful feel, this will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice,

Condition,.....lovely condition, tough the screw on pencil tip has gone but could easily be replaced, the extended dip pen has a ding and a small split, that being said it doesnt detract at all from its beauty, just mentioned for accuracy,  this is reflected in the price
