A wonderful and rare mid 17th century leather costrel, of typical form. A sheet of thick leather turned around and stitched down each side with a small opening at the top that would have held a cork. Two lug holes on the top would have held a strap that could be carried, these were carried on the belt not from the shoulder.

The leather is as hard as nails and has a wonderful dry look. minor surface cracks consistent with its great age.
