~ 18th Century Oriental Gun Powder Measures ~

These wooden powder measures were mostly used on the doglock system and with the early flintlocks for a precise measurement of the gun powder used to fire a shot.

This particular holster is designed to be used on a waist belt. A similar system was used by the Russian Cossacks until late 19th century.

The pouch contains eight containers with carved wooden heads. Some of them retain the leather and fabric lid.
The leather pouch is reinforced with a steel bar at the front.

~ Dimensions ~

The pouch is 19.5 cm wide by 5 inches (12.5 cm) (including the longest powder measure) and 3 cm deep.

It weighs 410 grams.

~ Condition ~

As seen in the pictures, the age took it toll but its overall condition is still decent.

The powder measures remained intact though even is the leather pouch is worn.
