The Sony VCL-ECU1 0.75x Wide Angle Conversion Lens provides an 18mm equivalent focal length for wide-angle shooting with the 16mm f/2.8 E-mount lens. Whether you're shooting landscapes or working in tight spaces the VCL-ECU1 opens up the scene, allowing you to get more in the frame. Attach the conversion lens to the 16mm lens on your NEX and start shooting. Included front and rear lens caps, along with an included case, keep the lens protected when not in use.

It's designed for use with α NEX camera and with the SEL 16mm f/2.8 lens to give you a wider frame with which to compose your shots, so that more of the surroundings can be included in the image.  The supplied front and rear lens caps and hard case help protect the lens from damage when not in use.
