A history:
About 1.8 billion years ago large meteoroid impacts of the Sudbury Igneous Complex brought to the surface a unique combination of rare earth minerals. Not normally found on the surface, these metallic sulfates come from deep in the mantle. Later on as plate collisions deformed and heated the region, pressurized hot water (1300 C+) began to dissolve the metallic ores. These newly formed hydrothermal fluids began to migrate into the patterns formed by crustal faulting as new land was added by accreation to the Canadian Shield. As the fluid cooled the rare earth minerals began to crystallize out of solution and line the walls of the faults. It was in just such a dramatic way our amethyst was formed.
What makes this amethyst so rich in rare inclusions is the nearby presence (8 miles away) of a huge rifting event which generated large volumes of mafic flood basalt and sill complexes. These deposits have been found to be extremely rich in Nickel, Copper, Platinum, Palladium and Gold. The metallic minerals were then dissolved by super-heated hydrothermal fluids and flowed through massive parallel fault systems directly to the mine. As the fluids began to cool the dissolved minerals were deposited as crystal "pockets" lining the walls of the faults. The entire crystal is composed of layered chevron phantoms which, like tree rings, represent the historical events that first shaped the North American Continent.

" I was recently made aware of the discovery of some powerful and beautiful crystals from the Boreal forest of the Canadian Shield, far north of Lake Superior. Sevens
Seven is the symbolic number of the universe, or macrocosm, with the human as the microcosm, so it was therefore connected in numerology to the perfect man. It is also the number attributed to Mother Earth, safety, perfection, plenty and fecundity.

Most importantly, seven was deemed important in the process towards the enlightenment experience. Three signified the heavenly part of the seven, and four the earth and human part. Only together would they unite as seven. In other words, one climbed the tree or ladder – the four lower chakras associated with the external material realm – to reach the three organs or glands (power centres) in the head associated with the internal psychical realm. There were seven in all. The chakra system is the ultimate source of the significance of sevens in myth, legend and mystical and spiritual systems the world over. Here are just a few of the correspondences:
Seven chakras (‘wheel’ vortices), reflecting the seven levels of consciousness and existence. The reality limit of these seven levels is demonstrated in the piece of paper that cannot be folded more than seven times.

The cross is the shamanic world tree or axis mundi and therefore also the human spinal column. Speaking seven times from the cross/spine symbolizes the seven chakras, and the culmination of all seven is the ‘feigning death’ experience that leads to the ‘resurrection’ of enlightenment.

HISTORY
Today, we understand that all things in the universe are forms of energy with their own frequency and vibration – including crystals. Nikola Tesla declared this concept as the key to understanding the universe and proved how certain forms of energy can alter the vibrational resonance of other forms of energy. This concept is why healing crystals and stones are still used today to align, heal and alter the vibration of bodily cells, chakras, and the subtle bodies by holistic healers.
The ancients didn’t have access to the enlightening scientific information that we have today concerning the power of healing crystals. However, people around the world seemed to instinctively be drawn to these lovely gems and have a deeper understanding of their value and meaning in the greater scheme of the universe.
Minerals, gems, and crystals have been used for millennia to enhance emotional, physical and spiritual balance. How the ancients knew, we may never know for sure, but these cultures certainly considered stones a major aspect of their existence.
Roman Culture: Talismans and amulets of crystal were typical amongst Romans. Most often, they were considered useful in enhancing health, attracting desirable things, and for providing protection in battle.
Ancient Egyptians: One of the biggest historical proponents of healing crystals, the Egyptians buried their dead with quartz upon the forehead. This was believed to help guide the departed safely into the afterlife. Pharaohs toted cylinders filled with quartz to balance the Ba and Ka energies of the body. Strongly associated with the Sky Goddess Isis, crushed Lapis Lazuli stones that were most notably worn by ladies of royalty – like Cleopatra – upon the eyes to promote enlightenment and awareness. Dancers donned rubies in their navels to foster their sex appeal. Many wore crystals over the heart to attract love, and placed crystal-laden crowns upon their head to stimulate enlightenment and awaken the third eye.
Chinese Culture: Chinese medicine commonly incorporates the use of healing crystals – including crystal-tipped needles used in acupuncture and Pranic healing sessions. These traditions hail from nearly 5000 years of practice.
Ancient Greeks: Crushed hematite was often rubbed upon soldier’s bodies prior to entering battle with the idea that it made them invincible. Interestingly, the word ‘crystal’ is thought to derive from the Greek word ‘krustullos,’ – meaning ‘ice’ – and until the 1500’s many ancients believed stones like clear quartz crystals were eternal ice sent from the Heavens. The mythological story of Amethyst plays a vital role in the story of the God Dionysus and Goddess Diana, and the word is said to be the Greek translation of ‘sober’ or ‘not drunken’ – something Dionysus could have spent more time being.
Traditions in India: Aryuvedic medicine in India considers crystals valuable for healing emotional and metaphysical imbalances. The use of various healing crystals is documented within the pages of the Hindu Vedas, which also references each stone’s specific healing abilities. Sapphires are thought to bring astuteness, clarity and mental balance, and jasper is thought to bring harmony, sexual vitality, and balance base chakras.

Scrying was a common practice in early Japanese culture, and it is
very similar to looking into a crystal ball as we see some psychics
do today. Crystal quartz spheres were considered representative of
the heart of a dragon and signified their power and wisdom.Concepts
of Electromagnetism
Concepts of electromagnetism as proven by James Clerk Maxwell and their interdependent nature along with the various breakthroughs in quantum theory have given us scientific evidence for what the ancients always knew. Because everything vibrates at certain frequencies, they have the ability shift and alter the frequencies of other objects or bodies when they occupy the same space.

PRECIOUS STONES OF THE BIBLE
Throughout history, in every civilization, gemstones have been highly prized and sought after. The Bible makes numerous references to jewels and precious stones. In Exodus 28:21 the Lord ordains precious stones to be used in the making of the breastpiece of the High Priests’ garments. Zechariah 9:16 says that the Lord’s people will be like jewels in a crown. In Revelation 21:19-20, John names twelve stones that adorn the foundation of the New Jerusalem. The difficulty has been in knowing the exact identity of the stones named. It has only been since the mid-1800’s that we have begun to identify stones according to their mineral content. In Bible times stones were identified by color, such as the Hebrew term odem which simply means “red stone.” This could have been any number of red stones known at the time (i.e. red jasper, carnelian, garnet). As more information surfaces thanks to archaeological findings and the writings of ancient historians such as Theophrastus (372-287 BC), Elder Pliny (23-79 AD), and Josephus (37-100 AD), we are able to come a bit closer to making some identifications sure.
