This is a vintage Viking of Minneapolis reel to reel tape deck transport, Model #85. These came out in 1958 as a stand alone tape deck without a built in pre-amp. The idea was you added your own preamp brand of choice. This is a quarter track stereo version and will also play half track tapes as well. The deck has a record and erase head as well as the playback head. No record function is built into the deck however, again, the idea was that your own preamp had that capability. Some scratches & surface rust from being in storage for a very long time. Non-original power cord, but fits & works. Motors work fine and are not noisy. Needs belts and felt pressure pads, as the counter belt is missing and as are the felt pressure pads. The pinch roller has a flat spot from being in the play position for a very long time. The upper head cover is long missing and the screws are missing for the lower head cover. It does have the original reel hub holders, a rare thing on its own. The deck will need minor restoration to get it up to good working condition, but should be an easy fix.

Sold as-is for parts or restore because of this.
